King Edward VI School Announces New Hockey Partnership with Sport101
King Edward VI School is delighted to announce a new partnership with Sport101, one of the UK's leading specialist hockey coaching providers, to deliver a series of high-performance hockey camps at Wellington Sports Ground this half term.
The partnership brings together two organisations with a shared commitment to hockey development. Combining Sport101's specialist coaching expertise with KES's long-standing tradition of hockey excellence, outstanding facilities and commitment to nurturing young athletes, the programme will provide ambitious players with access to high-quality coaching in a performance-focused environment.
Hockey is one of school's major sports for both boys and girls, with teams regularly competing successfully at county, regional and national level. The school currently fields more than 30 hockey teams across all age groups and competes against some of the strongest hockey schools in the South of England. Around 90% of pupils arrive having never played hockey before, yet many progress to represent KES at first team and national level.
Supporting Athletes to Reach Their Potential
Sport plays a central role in life at King Edward VI School. Each year, hundreds of pupils represent the school across a wide range of sports, with opportunities available for participants of all abilities alongside pathways for those competing at the highest levels.
The school is committed to helping every student achieve their individual sporting potential through expert coaching, competitive fixtures and access to exceptional facilities. For talented athletes, the school's well-established Talented Athlete Programme provides mentoring, strength and conditioning support, personalised training guidance and access to specialist workshops and guest speakers, helping students balance academic success with sporting ambitions. More than 50 students currently benefit from the programme while competing at regional level or above.
The school also offers Sports Scholarships for talented performers, recognising the important contribution student athletes make to the sporting life of the school and supporting their continued development.
